Starter Upgrade
Credit Terms
1 Eligibility
The Handwired $500 upgrade credit (the "Credit") is automatically granted to any client who:
- Completed a paid Starter Package ($500 one-page site) with Handwired, and
- Received final delivery and sign-off on that Starter site, and
- Has not already applied the Credit toward a Full Site upgrade.
The Credit is non‑retroactive — only Starter projects completed after March 1, 2026 are eligible under this version of the terms. Clients with Starter sites delivered prior to that date may request consideration on a case‑by‑case basis by emailing hello@handwired.dev.
2 Credit Amount & Application
The Credit is fixed at $500 USD. It applies exclusively toward the base price of a Handwired Full Site Package (currently $1,500+).
Example: If you purchased a Starter for $500 and later commission a Full Site priced at $1,800, you would pay $1,300 — the Credit covers the difference. If the Full Site is exactly $1,500, you pay $1,000.
The Credit cannot be applied toward:
- Monthly or annual maintenance plans
- Standalone hourly consulting or development work
- Third-party costs (domain registration, hosting, stock assets, etc.)
- Any package other than the Full Site Package
3 Validity Period
The Credit expires 12 months from the date of your Starter site's final delivery and sign‑off. Expiration dates are calculated automatically and available upon request.
If you initiate an upgrade conversation before the expiration date but the project extends past the 12‑month mark due to mutual scheduling or complexity, the Credit remains valid. Sloane Kade reserves the right to extend the validity period on a case‑by‑case basis for clients with active upgrade discussions.
Unused Credits expire with no cash value or alternative redemption.
4 Transferability
The Credit is transferable within your organization — meaning if you originally commissioned a Starter site for a business, you can assign the Credit to another project, department, or brand owned by the same legal entity.
Transfer between unrelated parties (e.g., selling your Credit to another person) is not permitted. The Credit is intended to reward your continued relationship with Handwired, not to function as a tradeable asset.
To transfer the Credit internally, simply mention the original Starter client name and project details when initiating your Full Site inquiry.
5 Upgrading from Starter to Full Site
When you're ready to upgrade, the process is straightforward:
- Start a conversation — Use the brief form on the main Handwired site or email directly.
- Confirm your Credit — I'll verify your Starter completion date and remaining Credit balance.
- Scope the Full Site — We'll define pages, interactions, and any additional features beyond the standard Full Site package.
- Apply the Credit — The $500 is deducted from your Full Site invoice. You pay the difference.
If your Full Site scope exceeds the standard package (e.g., custom e‑commerce, API integrations, extensive animation work), the Credit still applies to the base package price. Additional scoping is billed separately at standard rates.
6 Relationship to Other Offers
The Upgrade Credit can be combined with annual maintenance plan pricing (monthly vs. annual discount).
The Credit cannot be combined with:
- Other discount codes or promotional offers
- Volume‑based pricing for multiple sites (each Starter generates its own Credit for its associated Full Site)
Handwired reserves the right to modify or discontinue promotional offers at any time, but earned Credits are vested — once you've completed a Starter site, your Credit terms are locked in as described here.
Note on referrals: Referral bonuses are paid as cash, not credits. The Upgrade Credit is separate and unaffected by any referral earnings.
7 Limitations & Exclusions
No cash value. The Credit is not redeemable for money, gift cards, or any non‑Handwired service.
No partial credit carryover. If your Full Site costs less than the Credit amount (unlikely, as Full Sites start at $1,500), the remainder does not carry forward to future projects.
One Credit per Starter. Each completed Starter site generates exactly one $500 Credit. You cannot stack multiple Starter Credits toward a single Full Site unless you are consolidating multiple brands under the same legal entity (contact for approval).
No retroactive price adjustments. If Handwired changes Full Site pricing in the future, your Credit remains $500 — it does not automatically scale up or down.
8 Cancellation
If you cancel a Full Site project before significant work has begun (defined as before the discovery call), the Credit remains available for future use within the original 12‑month window.
If you cancel after work has commenced, the Credit is considered redeemed and will not be reinstated for future projects.
Handwired reserves the right to revoke the Credit if a client misrepresents eligibility, transfers the Credit to an unrelated third party, or otherwise abuses the terms described here.
9 Governing Law & Disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from or relating to the Credit shall be resolved through good‑faith negotiation first.
Nothing in these terms limits your ability to contact Handwired directly to resolve any confusion or disagreement. I prefer clarity over fine print — if something doesn't make sense, email me.
10 Changes to These Terms
Handwired may update these terms from time to time. For Credits already earned (Starter sites already completed), the terms in effect at the time of your Starter completion apply. For future Starter projects, the terms in effect at that time will apply.
The most current version of these terms will always be available at handwired.neocities.org/upgrade-terms. Material changes to terms affecting existing Credits will be communicated via email to affected clients.
